This long range project involves master planning of drainage systems and waterways at this PGA Champions Tour venue and integrating stormwater system design changes into the course. The course sits in the floodplain of the Sudbury River and is adjacent to the Pantry Brook State Wildlife Refuge. A stream and pond system traverses the property and ultimately feeds the irrigation pond for the course. Given the sensitive location of this course, and its location within two tightly regulated communities, Coneco's challenge has been to create sustainable designs for the drainage systems which also help to minimize impact on the environment, provide strategic golf elements on the course, and enhance the wildlife habitat value of this Audubon International Signature Program Golf Course. Mr. Toohill has been working with the club for over 15 years in evaluating the causes of the problems and developing a series of stream, pond, and drainage system designs intended to address the issues of course flooding, irrigation supply, and stormwater conveyance. The design also included creation of riparian wetland systems and integration of the ecological restoration projects as design elements of the golf course.
